Before you add another system, make the ones you have talk
The fastest improvement available to most organisations is not new software. It is removing the person who manually moves data between the software they already own.
There is a role that exists in almost every organisation and appears on no organogram: the person who keeps two systems in agreement. They export from one, tidy the columns, and import into the other. Often weekly. Sometimes daily.
It is treated as admin. It is actually an integration, implemented in human labour, with no error handling and a single point of failure who takes leave.

Start with the seam that hurts most
You do not need an integration strategy to begin. You need to identify the one hand-off that causes the most rework, and close it properly — with monitoring, retries and alerting, so it is genuinely unattended rather than merely automated.
Do that two or three times and a pattern emerges that is worth formalising. Start with the strategy document instead, and it usually stays a document.
